Cold Laser Therapy in Medford

An all-natural, evidence-based solution to chronic muscle and joint pain.

When it comes to treating persistent pain, many patients prefer to try a non-invasive natural route as opposed to painkillers or risky surgery. Cold laser therapy – also known as Low-Level Light Therapy, or LLLT – is one such approach that has proven safe and effective for even the most stubborn discomfort.

At our office, we often recommend LLLT to patients with great results. The approach has been around for over 100 years and provides a recovery-free, painless option with virtually no side effects.

What is Cold Laser Therapy?

Cold laser therapy is a treatment that uses light wavelengths to interact with troubled muscles and sore tissue. Through the use of this type of laser therapy, patients will experience the slight touch of the instrument on their skin (with no other sensations or pains during the procedure).

The wavelengths emit powerful light photons through the skin, which can penetrate up to five centimeters into the affected painful area. The laser therapy technician will hold the apparatus (which is about the size of a flashlight) over the muscle to transmit the energy directly to cells, which is then absorbed and synthesized in a process similar to photosynthesis.

As a result, damaged cells are rejuvenated and begin to grow anew, stronger and healthier with reduced inflammation and increased cellular strength.

Laser Therapy for Pain

Our office treats a wide variety of painful issues caused by a number of environmental and/or genetic factors. Specifically, cold laser therapy is effective against the following types of pain:

  • Shoulder pain due to accident or injury
  • Elbow and wrist pain due to overuse or arthritic conditions
  • Pain and discomfort in the hip flexors
  • Knee joint pain
  • Discomfort in the ankles and/or feet

In our office, cold laser therapy is often a component of a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to each patient’s specific needs. In addition to this therapy, we may also recommend lifestyle changes, a nutrition plan or follow-up appointments for spinal manipulation or decompression.
